Keto Creams

A keto cream is a sweet spread built on nuts or coconut rather than sugar, sold in a 250 g jar that holds ten 25 g spoons. One spoon declares 1.3 g of carbohydrate in Chocolate King and 4.9 g in Queen Macadamia, alongside 121 kcal to 139 kcal and 1.2 g to 2.0 g of naturally occurring sugars. Jars are £8.49 or £10.99, so a spoonful costs 85p or £1.10.

What is keto cream used for?

Keto cream goes straight off the spoon, onto bread and pancakes, and into baking as a filling or a topping. A 25 g spoon is the serving the label is built around, and a 250 g jar holds ten of them.

Most of it is eaten cold. Spread a spoonful on a slice of keto bread, stir it through porridge, fold it into plain yoghurt or sandwich it between two pancakes.

In baking the jars behave like a thick nut butter. Use one as a filling between sponge layers, as a topping on a cheesecake, or warm it gently to pour over berries. A spoon carries 121 kcal to 139 kcal, so a generous filling adds up quickly.

How many carbohydrates are in a spoon of keto cream?

A 25 g spoon of keto cream declares between 1.3 g and 4.9 g of carbohydrate. On a British label that figure already sits apart from fibre, so there is no net carb sum to do before it goes into the day's total.

The spread across the range is wider than it looks. Chocolate King at 1.3 g against Queen Macadamia at 4.9 g is 3.8 times on the same spoon. Here is the carbohydrate figure per 25 g spoon with the energy beside it.

  • Chocolate King: 1.3 g carbohydrate, 126 kcal
  • Almond & Vanilla: 1.9 g carbohydrate, 122 kcal
  • Delicious Hazelnut: 2.2 g carbohydrate, 121 kcal
  • Pecan & Salted Caramel: 2.3 g carbohydrate, 131 kcal
  • Peanut Butter: 2.3 g carbohydrate, 139 kcal
  • Queen Pistachio: 4.25 g carbohydrate, 130 kcal
  • White Chocolate & Raspberry: 4.4 g carbohydrate, 138 kcal
  • Queen Macadamia: 4.9 g carbohydrate, 134 kcal

Fibre keeps its own line underneath the carbohydrate figure. The jars that print one declare 13.4 g to 31.4 g per 100 g, which works out at 3.4 g to 7.9 g in a single spoon. Queen Pistachio and Queen Macadamia do not carry that line at all.

Which keto cream should you choose?

Keto creams differ by the base they are built on: nut paste, peanut pulp or creamed coconut. That base sets the texture, the protein and most of the price.

Some lists name the share of the headline ingredient. Roasted pistachio paste makes up 40 per cent of Queen Pistachio, macadamia nuts 20 per cent of Queen Macadamia, and hazelnuts 15.9 per cent of Chocolate King beside 8.2 per cent defatted cocoa powder.

Protein follows the base. Peanut Butter is the richest at 5.6 g a spoon from peanut pulp, Chocolate King reaches 3.5 g with milk protein, and the coconut based jars sit between 1.0 g and 2.0 g.

Total fat barely moves across the range, between 10.2 g and 12.3 g a spoon, but saturated fat does. Peanut Butter declares 7.9 g per 100 g and White Chocolate & Raspberry 43.2 g per 100 g, a fivefold difference behind an almost identical fat line.

Milk is in the ingredient list of Queen Macadamia, as milk protein and milk powder, and of Chocolate King, as whey protein and whole milk powder. Neither jar suits a dairy free or a vegan diet, and the rest of the range is built on plant ingredients.

No ingredient list here includes palm oil. The fats come from coconut, sunflower, shea and MCT oil, and no sugar is added to any of these recipes.

Keto cream flavours side by side

Every jar weighs 250 g and costs £8.49 or £10.99, which is 85p or £1.10 for a 25 g spoon. The figures below are per spoon unless the line says otherwise.

  • Jar and serving: 250 g, ten 25 g spoons
  • Price: £8.49 or £10.99 a jar, 85p or £1.10 a spoon
  • Energy: 121 kcal to 139 kcal
  • Fat: 10.2 g to 12.3 g
  • Carbohydrate: 1.3 g to 4.9 g
  • Sugars: 1.2 g to 2.0 g, none of it added
  • Protein: 1.0 g to 5.6 g
  • Fibre: 13.4 g to 31.4 g per 100 g, on the jars that print a figure

The £10.99 jars are Queen Macadamia, Queen Pistachio and Chocolate King. The rest of the range is £8.49.

What sweetens a keto cream if there is no added sugar?

Erythritol sweetens most of these jars, and the peanut butter and hazelnut spreads carry no sweetener. No sugar is added to any of them.

Erythritol appears in the lists for White Chocolate & Raspberry, Pecan & Salted Caramel, Almond & Vanilla, Queen Pistachio, Queen Macadamia and Chocolate King. It is a polyol, so it already sits inside the carbohydrate figure printed on the jar.

Steviol glycosides do part of the work in Queen Macadamia, and Chocolate King carries stevia extract beside erythritol. Peanut Butter and Delicious Hazelnut have no sweetening ingredient at all: Peanut Butter lists five ingredients, peanut pulp, inulin, MCT oil, pea fibre and bamboo fibre.

The sugars line is not zero, because the ingredients bring their own. A 25 g spoon declares 1.2 g to 2.0 g of naturally occurring sugars, and none of that figure comes from added sugar.

Inulin, the fibre drawn from chicory root, runs through every one of these recipes. It is there for the texture and for the fibre line, not for the sweetness.

How is keto cream different from chocolate spread and from keto jam?

Keto creams, keto chocolates and keto jams differ by format: a spoonable spread, a solid bar, a fruit preserve. The carbohydrate figures per serving are close, so the choice is really about how you eat it.

A bar is portioned by squares and a spread by spoons. If you want something to break rather than to spread, the keto chocolate range covers similar flavours in tablet form.

On toast the real alternative is fruit. A keto jam is fruit thickened without added sugar, so it brings the sweetness and almost none of the fat, while a cream brings 10.2 g to 12.3 g of fat a spoon.

Choose the jar by the line you are counting: 1.3 g of carbohydrate a spoon at the bottom of the range, 4.9 g at the top, from £8.49 a jar with UK delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What cream has no carbs?

No cream here is carbohydrate free. The lowest figure on this page is 1.3 g of carbohydrate in a 25 g spoon of Chocolate King, and the highest is 4.9 g in Queen Macadamia. Anything sold as carb free is usually a whole food, or a label rounding a small figure down to zero.

Is double cream keto?

Yes, in the amounts used for cooking. Double cream is a dairy pouring cream, low enough in carbohydrate to fit a ketogenic day when it goes into coffee, a sauce or a dessert. It is an ingredient for cooking rather than a spread for bread, which is what the jars on this page are.

What are the side effects of keto cream?

These jars are food, not medicine. What people notice is the fibre and the polyols, usually when the helping is larger than one 25 g spoon. Inulin and erythritol both ferment in the gut, so a first jar is worth starting with a single spoon rather than three.

Which is the best keto cream in the UK?

It depends on the figure you pick. Chocolate King is the lowest in carbohydrate at 1.3 g a spoon, Peanut Butter is the highest in protein at 5.6 g and the lowest in saturated fat at 7.9 g per 100 g, and Queen Pistachio carries the largest named share of nut paste at 40 per cent.

Is keto cream the same as a keto coffee creamer?

No, a creamer is for stirring in. A coffee creamer is a powder or a liquid that dissolves into a drink, while these are thick spreads eaten with a spoon or spread on bread.

Are keto creams vegan?

No, Queen Macadamia and Chocolate King contain milk. Queen Macadamia lists milk protein and milk powder, Chocolate King lists whey protein and whole milk powder, and the other jars are built on plant ingredients only. The allergen line on the jar is the one to read before ordering.

Do keto creams contain nuts?

Most of them do. Macadamia, pecan, almond, pistachio, peanut and hazelnut turn up across the range, and White Chocolate & Raspberry is the jar whose ingredient list has none of them. Read the allergen line on the jar before you order.

Does keto cream contain palm oil?

No, no jar here lists palm oil. The fats come from coconut, sunflower, shea and MCT oil, and coconut is the first ingredient in several of the recipes.

How much keto cream is one serving?

One serving is a 25 g spoon. A 250 g jar holds ten of them, which puts a spoonful at 85p from an £8.49 jar and £1.10 from a £10.99 one.
