Cordyceps has been used in Chinese and Tibetan medicine for thousands of years as one of the most valuable medicinal mushrooms. Cordycepic acid present in the fungus accelerates metabolism, supports detoxification of the body and has an immunostimulatory effect.

Cordyceps polysaccharides are characterised by a wide range of bioactivity, including hypocholesterolemic and antiviral effects (e.g. on the influenza virus).
