Lion’s Mane (Sophora coneflower) exhibits neuroprotective effects and promotes the regeneration of damaged nerve cells. It also supports the cognitive functions of the brain and mobilises the immune system – increasing the activity of macrophages, which are responsible for phagocytosis (absorption and digestion of pathogens). It has been used in Chinese and Japanese medicine for thousands of years. When used regularly, it can offset glycaemic problems, improve mood, reduce feelings of anxiety and improve sleep quality.

Most of the identified bioactive compounds found in Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus), such as hericones and erinacins, are mainly associated with NGF (Nerve growth factor) inducing activity in the body.

Consequently, supplementation with mushroom extract may increase neuroplasticity in the brain, which in turn may contribute to improved mood and have an antidepressant effect.

Lion's Mane extract interacts with neutrophic brain-derived factor - the so-called BDNF - which can freely cross the blood-brain barrier.
